Durham Eagle Numismatics

The primary area of focus of Durham Eagle Numismatics is early United
States type coins, particularly coins in the various Liberty Seated series. These
include half dimes, dimes, quarter dollars, twenty cent pieces, half dollars,
Gobrecht dollars, seated dollars, and trade dollars. The owner has researched
coins in all of these series but has emphasized the Liberty Seated quarter
series which was minted from 1838-1891. This is considered the toughest
series to collect because of the many scarce and rare dates that were minted.
In recent years he has studied extensively the Gobrecht dollars of 1836-1839.
A number of articles has been published not only on Liberty Seated coins but
also on various aspects of buying, selling, and grading U.S. coins. Articles
have been published in Coin World, the Gobrecht Journal, the North Carolina
Numismatic Association (NCNA) Journal, and elsewhere. These articles are
available on this site. New previously unpublished articles will be gradually
added over time. These articles will initially give readers an overview of the
various series of Liberty Seated coins. Later articles will present a more in-
    depth treatment.

Durham Eagle does not sell coins. Coins in the Durham Eagle collection are
    kept in a bank vault.
