"High Prices Paid for Liberty Seated Quarters at the 2006 FUN Auctions," Robert A. Izydore, The
Gobrecht Journal, published by the Liberty Seated Collectors Club, Volume 30 Issue #95, 32,
March, 2006.

The following is a slightly expanded version of the above reference.

A nice offering of Liberty Seated quarters was auctioned in Orlando, Florida at two January, 2006
auctions associated with the annual show of the Florida United Numismatists (FUN).  The auctions
were conducted by American Numismatic Rarities (ANR) on January 3 and Heritage Numismatic
Auctions on January 5.  The most extensive selection of dates was offered in the pre-FUN auction
by ANR during which the Frog Run Farm collection of Liberty seated quarters was sold.  The
overall quality of this collection is excellent.  This collection ranks as the highest all time set in the
PCGS Set Registry.  The certified grades, prices realized, and some personal observations for the
key dates sold are given in Tables 1 and 2.  Bidding for these dates was very spirited with bids
coming in over the phone as well as from the floor.  Often two bidders bidding on the same coin
drove its price up by thousands of dollars.  New price records were set.  Prices for the more
common dates were also strong.  In most instances the prices realized were well above the listed
values that appear in published price guides.  The high prices continue a trend toward higher
prices that has taken place over the past several years.  This trend is likely to continue as
collectors increasingly realize the true rarity of Liberty Seated quarters.  Another factor that is
involved is that registry set collectors are driving prices to stratospheric heights as they compete
with each other for high grade coins.  The effect is most pronounced for the key dates.

Although the excellent Frog Run Farm collection is the highest all time set in the PCGS Set
Registry, it does not compare in quality with the EHG Seated Quarters collection that is listed in
the NGC Registry.  The EHG collection is 80% complete at the time of this writing.  Most of the
dates are in the condition census, and many of them are the highest graded.  The collection is truly
impressive.  The EHG collection is also the highest rated collection in the Liberty Seated half dime,
twenty cent, and half dollar categories as well several of the Bust and Barber coinage categories.
It is currently the second highest rated Liberty Seated dime collection.
